How to Make Hunters Chicken

Traditionally a Hunters Chicken is a French recipe of cooked chicken breast in a chasseur sauce, but today it has become better known as a modern pub classic.

The modern take on this classic French recipe is often a Chicken breast, topped with bacon and cheese then smothered with BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

1 Fresh Chicken Breast
1 Rasher of Smoked Back Bacon
Cheddar Cheese
25 g Salted Butter
Olive Oil
BBQ Sauce
2 Tsp of water

Cooking Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken breast through the centre (Butterfly it) so you can open it up.
  2. Put the bacon on top of the chicken then wrap the chicken and bacon flat in tin foil (Aluminium cooking foil). Fold the foil into a flat sealed parcel then cook in a preheated oven at 180 c for 25 mins.
  3. Take the chicken from the oven and remove from the foil.
  4. Heat some oil in a griddle pan then cook the chicken on both sides for 5 minutes.
  5. Take the chicken out of the pan and smother with the cheese.
  6. Flash under the grill for a few minutes or Cook in the oven for a further 5 mins, until the cheese is melted.
  7. Plate up the chicken breast and top with hot BBQ sauce.
  8. You can add a few spoons of water to the BBQ sauce if it is out of a bottle and a bit thick.
