The Omelette roll is a Japanese version of the omelette. It is a sort of stuffed omelette and can be created with any fillings you fancy. Baked in the oven this variation is made with Ham, Peppers and of course Cheese.
I have made these with all sorts of ingredients such as Sausage, Tomatoes and even Mushrooms.
This Omelette is surprisingly filling and is enough to serve it on it's own, but is is great to serve with Chips and beans.
The Omelette Roll is a Chinese recipe idea, that takes the standard omelette and recreates it by loading it up and rolling it so that you wind up with a stuffed Egg Pancake.
The origins of this dish are a little unclear but general belief is that it was created in New York City in the 1930s. Henry Low included an egg roll recipe in his 1938 book Cook at Home in Chinese.
As with any type of momelette, you can change the ingredients up a little with this recipe.
Try different types of Ham, Cheese etc.
