History of Salted Caramel Sauce
Originating in France, the concept of caramel dates back to the 17th century, where sugar was heated until it melted and transformed into a rich, amber liquid.

The addition of salt to caramel, however, is a more recent development, gaining popularity in the late 20th century as chefs began to experiment with flavour contrasts.

This combination of sweet and savory not only enhances the complexity of the sauce but also elevates desserts to new heights.

The trend was notably popularized by French pastry chefs, who recognized that a pinch of sea salt could balance the sweetness of caramel, creating an harmonious flavour.

As salted caramel sauce made its way into mainstream cuisine, it became a popular ingredient in various desserts, from ice creams to cakes, and even savory dishes, showcasing its versatility.
