    Homemade Beer Batter

This batter is the secret to a good battered fish or even a sausage in batter. I also use this batter mix to make Chinese chicken balls in batter.

The secret to a great batter is the liquid, we are making a Beer Batter so rather obviously we are using Beer (Lager). You could substitute this for some other fizzy liquid such as Soda water, but this will change the taste of the batter.

    25 ml of Olive Oil
    50 ml Cold Water
125 ml of Larger or Carbonated Water

    Lemon Juice (Optional)

    Cooking Instructions

    1. Put the flour and Salt into a Mixing bowl.
    2. In this recipe we are making a Beer batter, so the carbonated liquid is Lager, but you can substitute this for carbonated water if you prefer.
    3. Mix in the Olive Oil , Beer and water so that you get a nice thick batter.
    4. Beat well with a fork or whisk to get the batter light and full of bubbles.
